Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to block President Biden’s student loan relief plan.

“President Biden’s student loan relief plan was a lifeline to millions of Americans who are still working to recover from a once-in-a-lifetime pandemic,” said Rep. Frankel. “This ruling disproportionately harms low-income borrowers who have fallen deep into debt, making it even harder for them to achieve their dreams.”

In a 6-3 decision, the far-right Supreme Court ruled against President Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan, which sought to forgive up to $20,000 in student debt for borrowers with annual incomes under $125,000. The ruling will impact 40 million borrowers.
