Veterans and Servicemembers

As both the daughter and mother of Veterans, I will always advocate for the rights and benefits our servicemembers and Veterans deserve.

In 2022, Congress passed and President Biden signed into law the Honoring Our PACT Act, which expanded eligibility for Veterans Administration (VA) health care benefits to Veterans exposed to burn pits, Agent Orange, and other toxic substances. I believe we must continue to improve services and resources for our Veterans, including health care, education, housing, and workforce training. That’s why I am proud to sponsor the bipartisan Veteran Education Empowerment Act, which would promote Student Veteran Centers at universities and colleges across the country to help student Veterans transition from military to student life. Through the Centers of Excellence for Veteran Student Success program, we have provided nearly $50 million in grants to 90 schools since 2015, including Florida International University, so campuses can better serve student Veterans.

As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, each year I fight for increased funding for Veterans’ health care, services for homeless Veterans, and workforce training for Veterans. I will always fight to defend the rights of those who have served our nation.
