Israel and Antisemitism

ISRAEL

I will always stand by Israel, and I am committed to ensuring our ally has the resources and support needed to defend itself and maintain peace and security. In Congress, as Ranking Member of the National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Appropriations Subcommittee, I support continued security assistance to Israel and robust funding for Israel’s missile defense capabilities. Since Hamas’s deadly attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, I have supported emergency aid to Israel as it works to dismantle Hamas and fight proxies on multiple fronts.

I frequently meet with released hostages who were held in Gaza as well as their families, and will continue to speak out for the unconditional and immediate release of the remaining hostages.

As part of that commitment to peace and security, I have consistently spoken out on the existential threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions. For decades, the Iranian regime has armed terrorist proxies, called for the destruction of Israel and the United States, and relentlessly pursued nuclear weapons. It is vital that President Trump and Congress work together in a constructive, bipartisan manner to ensure Iran never obtains a nuclear weapon. The safety of Israel, our allies, and the United States depends on it.

ANTISEMITISM

I am alarmed by the disturbing rise in antisemitism across our country, especially as a member of the Jewish community. I proudly serve on the Bipartisan Task Force for Combating Antisemitism, which aims to ensure Congress plays an integral role in condemning antisemitism and spearheading initiatives that promote tolerance worldwide. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I have advocated for increased funding for security for synagogues and other places of worship that could be targets for hate crimes. I have also championed funding for the Department of Education to ensure schools and colleges are safe learning environments for Jews and all other students.

I have cosponsored bills, including the Antisemitism Awareness Act, and the Holocaust Education and Antisemitism Lessons Act. These bills strengthen federal efforts to counter domestic antisemitism, mandate Holocaust education, and crack down on antisemitism in schools. We must continue to invest in programs that prevent hate, promote education, and build awareness about antisemitism nationwide and around the world. Hate has no place in our country or anywhere.
