Health Care

I believe all Americans deserve access to affordable, quality health care, and I am fighting back hard against Republicans’ efforts to rip away health care for millions of families. For far too long, America’s health care system has been too expensive for many hardworking families and individuals. In 2010, Congress passed the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to lower costs and provide quality health care to all Americans. Millions of people rely on the protections and benefits that this legislation provides, including prohibiting insurance companies from denying insurance for individuals with pre-existing conditions or dropping coverage when people get sick. Florida leads the nation in signups through the ACA insurance marketplace, with over 4.5 million Floridians enrolled in affordable health care through the marketplace in 2025.

Since I’ve been in Congress, I have continued to work to improve and strengthen the ACA to make coverage accessible for even more Americans. In 2021, Congressional Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, which allowed an additional 6 million Americans to enroll in affordable health care through the ACA, 80 percent of whom enrolled for under $10 per month. In 2022, we extended these benefits through 2025 with the passage of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA also capped insulin at $35 per month for seniors on Medicare, capped seniors’ annual out-of-pocket drug spending, ensured free vaccines for Medicare beneficiaries, and allowed Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for the first time.

Unfortunately, due to Trump and Republicans’ Big, Ugly Law, vital ACA aid is set to expire at the end of this year. Almost 90% of enrollees benefit from this aid, and the average premium in Palm Beach County could go up by over $500. Democrats are fighting to preserve your affordable health care. I am proud to cosponsor legislation to make the expanded ACA aid permanent. I have also repeatedly called on Republican House leadership to extend this vital assistance.

I will continue to fight for more affordable and accessible quality health care for all Americans.
