Hi, I’m Congresswoman Lois Frankel. During Black History Month, we celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the African American community – and we honor the civil rights champions and front-line activists who demanded equality.

Thanks to their efforts, we’ve seen great progress over the last 50 years, but there’s still so much more that needs to be done.

Attempts to suppress the vote that so many of our pioneers fought for are occurring all across the country, including my home state of Florida. These efforts include rigid voter ID laws, limiting early voting, and stifling voter registration, all aimed at curbing the vote of minorities in the guise of reducing fraud.

Voting is fundamental to our democracy – it allows Americans to express their voice and advocate for the change they want to see. That’s why, I urge all of us to work together to ensure a fair and equal voting process. And I pledge to do everything I can to make sure that every American has easy access to a ballot box.
