Congresswoman Lois Frankel released the following statement following the release of the Congressman Paul Ryan’s House Republican budget.

“Once again, the House Republicans have issued a budget that creates new burdens on seniors, the middle class, and poor. It ignores job creation and breaks the promises made to our seniors by radically altering Medicare and Medicaid,” said Frankel. “This budget, and its misplaced values and priorities, are wrong for South Florida and wrong for America.”

Among some of the details of the budget opposed by Congresswoman Frankel:

• Cuts funding for seniors in nursing homes;
• Cuts funding for low-income children on nutrition programs;
• Turns Medicare over to insurance companies;
• Slashes money for student loans;
• Eliminates funding to combat climate change.
