Frankel Commemorates Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act Anniversary

On the Anniversary of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act being signed into law, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) issued the following statement:

“Today we honor Lilly Ledbetter who blazed a trail for women around the country and helped ensure women have the ability to be paid fairly for the work they do,” Congresswoman Lois Frankel said.

Frankel is co-sponsoring the Paycheck Fairness Act, which was re-introduced last week by Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro. The Paycheck Fairness Act will help close the wage gap between men and women working the same jobs.

The wage gap between women and men could cost women between $400,000 to $2 million in lost wages over their careers. In Florida the median pay for a woman working full-time is $33,823 per year compared to $40,951 for a man, according to the National Partnership for Women & Families—meaning women are paid 83 cents for every dollar paid to men in Florida.
