Millions in Emergency Education Funding Headed for Palm Beach County

West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Rep. Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement upon designation of emergency education funds through the federal CARES Act to Palm Beach State College and Florida Atlantic University.

“The coronavirus pandemic has dramatically interrupted the education of our children,” said Rep. Frankel. “This critical funding will be used to help students, families, and educators cope with the impact.”

Palm Beach State College will receive $18,933,435 and Florida Atlantic University will receive $22,429,874. The funds may be used to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child). Additionally, Florida received nearly $174 million through the Governor’s Fund to support the state’s K-12 and higher education needs related to COVID-19.
