Frankel Statement on Revelations that Trump Covered Up COVID-19 Threat

West Palm Beach, FL, September 10, 2020

Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement after President Trump revealed in a conversation with Bob Woodward that he was aware of the deadly nature of the coronavirus early this year and hid it from the public:

“A historic national tragedy has occurred because Trump told us in his own words that he did not tell us the truth about COVID-19. He was fully aware of the catastrophic nature of the virus, that it was airborne, that it would damage old and young, but he left our entire country exposed and unprepared. His conversation with Woodward was in February. What has happened in the United States since: More than 190,000 funerals, people dying alone; millions of Americans sick and infected and losing jobs; front-liners at risk; businesses gone bust; children out of school; seniors held hostage in their homes; more homelessness and hunger. So many sad stories that could have been avoided had the president told the public the truth and taken action to protect us.”
