Rep. Frankel Statement on Recent Epstein Ruling

Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21), released the following statement following an appellate court decision that said prosecutors did not violate a federal victims rights law by giving a sweetheart deal to accused child abuser Jeffrey Epstein in 2007 without notification to the victims. The Court ruled that Courtney Wild and other victims had no legal recourse to learn the details of the plea arrangement that resulted in a very short jail sentence with special privileges for Epstein despite very serious charges.

“This court decision is sadly disappointing,” said Rep. Frankel. “Courtney Wild and the other victims of Jeffrey Epstein have been incredibly courageous in their fight for justice. Although Congressional efforts to correct the law have been delayed due to the pandemic, we are not done yet.”
