Rep. Frankel Highlights Mortgage and Rental Assistance for Palm Beach County Residents Despite Supreme Court Decision

West Palm Beach, FL, August 27, 2021

Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement after the Supreme Court overturned President Biden’s eviction moratorium.

“No parent should have to worry about exposing their child to COVID-19 because they fell behind on rent,” said Rep. Frankel. “Despite the Supreme Court’s decision to allow evictions to proceed, the good news is that help is available for those who are struggling through federal money provided to Palm Beach County.”

Palm Beach County has been dispersing rental assistance since December and has helped over 5,700 families stay in their homes while paying landlords their rent through the county’s rental assistance portal. The portal remains open and additional assistance is available for residents who meet eligibility requirements. Applicants can also call 561-355-4792. The State of Florida has also opened a separate rental assistance portal, which can be accessed here

The county is also offering mortgage assistance to eligible persons. That application portal is open now until September 7th. Mortgage holders should also check with their lenders for options to delay loan payments without penalty.
