Nuremberg Prosecutor, International Human Rights Champion Celebrates 102nd Birthday

West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement wishing Ben Ferencz, the last living Nuremberg prosecutor and advocate for human rights across the globe, a happy 102nd birthday. Last year, Frankel introduced a bill to award Ferencz, a Palm Beach County resident, the Congressional Gold Medal, along with Reps. Joe Wilson (R-SC-02), Ted Deutch (D-FL-22), Gus Bilirakis (R-FL-12), Jim McGovern (D-MA-02), and Chris Smith (R-NJ-04).

“From his service during WWII, to his role as chief prosecutor in a trial that brought 22 Nazi officials to justice, Ben Ferencz has led a remarkable life dedicated to the pursuit of justice,” said Rep. Frankel. “He is a treasure to humanity and a true inspiration for all of us, and I wish him a happy and healthy 102nd birthday.”

The Congressional Gold Medal is Congress’s highest expression of national appreciation for distinguished achievements and contributions by individuals or institutions. Watch Rep. Frankel’s press conference nominating Ferencz for this honor here.
