Washington, D.C. — Today, the leads of the Women’s Health Protection Act, Representatives Judy Chu (CA-27), Lois Frankel (FL-21) Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), issued a joint statement on the heels of the Supreme Court’s decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, which overturns Roe v. Wade. “Abortion is not only an essential part of health care — it’s critical for protecting the personal freedom every person in the United States should be able to expect,” said the members. “Today’s decision rips away the ability of millions of people to decide what to do with their own bodies and their own families. It sets the stage to criminalize doctors, nurses, clinic staff — even pregnant people. It puts lives in danger and threatens our rights to make personal decisions about our own lives, health and futures.
