Leaders of the Democratic Women’s Working Group Denounce President Trump’s Sexist Tweets

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the leadership of the Democratic Women’s Working Group (DWWG), Reps. Lois Frankel, Brenda Lawrence, and Jackie Speier, released a joint statement following President Trump’s sexist tweets this morning:

“It is indeed a sad day for our country when the President of the United States spends his time verbally attacking women instead of working to advance their rights. The latest tweet on Mika Brzezinski's appearance – while certainly not the last – continues an assault on women from the highest office in the land. We implore the President to empower women, not tear them down.

But it’s not just his tweets – it’s his relentless mission to enact policies that fundamentally hurt women and families. From devastating access to health care to eroding economic security, this President and his Republican colleagues in Congress want to turn back the clock on women’s progress.

Rest assured that Democrats will continue the fight to protect our rights and ensure that women are treated with the respect they deserve.”

The Democratic Women’s Working Group is comprised of all Democratic Women House Members, and is led by Reps. Lois Frankel, Brenda Lawrence, and Jackie Speier. The DWWG is united in the common goal to improve the lives of women and their families.
