West Palm Beach, FL – October 18, 2017 – Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement in response to long lines and disorganization at Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (D-SNAP) locations in South Florida. D-SNAP provides short-term food assistance for families recovering from a disaster. Registration is currently being offered at three locations in Palm Beach County through Saturday, October 21.
“Floridians recovering from Hurricane Irma should not have to get in line at 2 A.M. to receive food to eat. Families who lost food or saw unexpected costs to repair their homes are having trouble buying groceries. I am deeply concerned about the poor execution of food relief programs and echo Senator Nelson’s request to the Department of Agriculture to send immediate resources to help Florida’s D-SNAP.”
