West Palm Beach - Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding $3.4 million in reimbursements to Palm Beach County to cover overtime costs of protecting President Trump from his inauguration through September 30, 2017.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, West Palm Beach Police Department, and Town of Palm Beach will all receive reimbursements through the Presidential Residence Protection Assistance Grant. This grant compensates law enforcement for extra costs associated with protecting President Trump at his non-governmental residences, including Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach.
“Trump’s visits to Palm Beach County cost millions in overtime for area law enforcement agencies,” said Rep. Frankel. “These reimbursements will provide needed relief to local budgets.”
Since his inauguration, President Trump has spent 33 days at Mar-a-Lago with more visits expected. The South Florida Congressional delegation will continue seeking federal reimbursement.
