ICYMI: Rep. Frankel Visits Opioid Addiction Recovery Program

WEST PALM BEACH, FL - Yesterday, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21), a member of the Congressional Bipartisan Heroin Task Force, visited the Palm Beach County Health Care District to learn about their opioid addiction recovery pilot program. The 30-patient program started in early 2017.

Patients treated at the emergency room after an opioid overdose can choose to join the program, where they are then assigned a doctor, psychiatrist, and social worker. Patients report daily to the Health Care District to receive treatment, and along with their team develop a long-term recovery plan.

At the visit, Frankel met with PBC Health Care District Chief Medical Officer Dr. Belma Andric (right) and Vice President and Executive Director of Clinic Services Chris Irizarry (left).

Rep. Frankel meets with (left to right) PBC Health Care District Lead Psychiatrist Dr. Courtney Rowling, Dr. Belma Andric, Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County Director Dr. Alina Alonso, opioid addiction treatment specialist Dr. Marc Schlosser, and Chris Irizarry.
