Rep. Frankel Marks Equal Pay Day
Washington,
April 10, 2018
ICYMI: Today, Rep. Lois Frankel (FL-21) posted a statement on her Facebook page recognizing Equal Pay Day and highlighting the link between sexual harassment and the gender wage gap. Women working full-time, year-round still earn 80 cents for every dollar men make. To highlight this critical disparity Rep. Frankel and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) introduced a resolution today to mark the significance of Equal Pay Day. They were joined by 67 of their Democratic colleagues. In the age of #MeToo, we can’t mark #EqualPayDay without addressing how the pervasiveness of sexual harassment can hurt a woman’s career, pocketbook, and ability to care for her family. In our great nation, inequality in the workplace should never be tolerated and folks should be paid fairly based on their work, not by their gender or race. It’s time Congress pass the Paycheck Fairness Act and strengthen protections against harassment so all workplaces are safe, equal and dignified. ### |
