Congresswoman Lois Frankel issued the following statement on July 17, 2014, regarding Israel’s launching of a ground operation in Gaza.

“Israel has shown remarkable restraint and has made every effort to reach a cease fire. Hamas has rejected these efforts and continued launching attacks against Israeli civilians while hiding among Palestinian civilian populations. Hamas is responsible for the loss of innocent life on both sides of this tragic conflict. Israel’s decision to enter Gaza to root out Hamas’s underground terror infrastructure is being taken to defend Israeli citizens and minimize collateral damage. The US must remain engaged in pursuing peace and stability for Israelis and Palestinians,” said Frankel.
