Rep. Frankel Statement on Iran’s Missile Strikes

Washington, D.C. – Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement after last night’s Iranian attack on military bases in Iraq where U.S. troops are stationed:

“I am relieved no Americans were harmed in last night’s strike. As the mother of a U.S. Marine war veteran, our brave men and women in uniform and their families are always in my thoughts.

“While I am hopeful we are moving toward de-escalation, I remain concerned that Trump ignited this crisis with no plan to deal with the aftermath. Iraq has voted to expel American troops, the U.S. has been forced to suspend the counter-ISIS mission, and Iran announced it would no longer adhere to the nuclear deal’s limits. The administration must develop a comprehensive strategy that prevents an escalation to war, addresses Iran’s nuclear program and support for terrorism, and keeps our personnel and allies in the region safe.”
