Congresswoman Lois Frankel released the following statement today in recognition of the fourteenth anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001.
“Today, our nation pauses to remember the men, women, and children who lost their lives in the attacks of September 11th, as well as their loved ones who still grieve for them. This anniversary also serves as an important reminder for us to remain vigilant in protecting our country and our allies from brutal terrorist organizations like ISIL.
We reflect on the courage of the firefighters, police officers, and first responders who were killed or wounded in the line of duty, and we honor the brave men and women in uniform who continue work each day to keep us safe. This year, especially, we are reminded of their sacrifice as the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act is set to expire, jeopardizing the medical monitoring, care, and compensation program responders and survivors across the country depend on. These heroes gave so much trying to save others; let’s do the right thing and extend the program they so deeply deserve.”
