PBC Congressional Delegation Again Urges County Commission to Require Masks in Public Places, Slow the Spread of COVID-19

Today, Reps. Lois Frankel (FL-21), Ted Deutch (FL-22), and Alcee Hastings (FL-20) issued the following statement ahead of the Palm Beach County Commission’s vote tomorrow on requiring people to wear masks in public to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

“As COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Florida, we again urge the Palm Beach County Commission to require mask wearing in locations recommended by local health officials. Businesses will not stay open if customers and workers are not healthy and safe. The use of masks reduces the risk of both contracting and spreading the disease. We must not allow our healthcare system to get overwhelmed by sick patients. We are all in this together.”

Last week, the delegation sent the Palm Beach County commissioners a letter urging them to follow national best practices to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by requiring masks to be worn in all essential indoor establishments.
