Today, Rep. Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement after voting for the Moving Forward Act, which passed the House by a vote of 233 to 188.
“Today, I proudly joined my colleagues to pass the Moving Forward Act to give Florida’s families and businesses the urgently-needed investments in our local bridges, roads, schools, and economy, while putting us on the path toward a more equitable and green future. The bill takes significant action to promote a clean energy and climate-focused economic transformation. And as our nation continues to confront the COVID-19 pandemic, this legislation will create millions of good-paying jobs and equip our nation with the 21st century infrastructure critical to growing our economy and helping our communities prosper for decades to come.”
Specifically, the legislation:
- Rebuilds our highways, bridges, transit, rail, airports, ports, and harbors;
- Invests in our children’s futures by helping to safely reopen and rebuild schools;
- Modernizes our energy infrastructure for a clean energy future;
- Invests boldly in affordable housing;
- Expands affordable high-speed internet to underserved communities;
- Upgrades hospitals and health care infrastructure;
- Ensures all communities have clean water;
- Delivers a 21st Century Postal Service; and
- Promotes investments in our communities by spurring private investment.
This bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.
