Today, Rep. Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement in response to Governor Ron DeSantis’ press conference on COVID-19.

“The message sent by Governor DeSantis, adopting President Trump’s campaign slogan that when it comes to COVID-19 ‘we just have to live with it’, is dangerous and foolhardy. The Governor’s assertion that the surge in cases is just a result of increased testing has been repeatedly refuted by public health experts. It is dangerous to minimize the threat from this pandemic, which many will see as a green light to engage in riskier behavior. Young people are not immune to this disease and can infect their loved ones and others at higher risk and can lead to an overburdened health care system. The Governor should start telling Floridians the truth and mandate statewide the wearing masks in public places where social distancing is not possible. Our economy will open faster if people are safe and healthy.”
