Frankel Statement on First Appropriations Package
West Palm Beach, FL,
July 24, 2020
Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21), member of the House Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after voting to pass the first funding bill package of fiscal year 2021. “Families in South Florida know we need investments that expand opportunities for every American,” said Rep. Frankel. “This spending package includes big wins for South Florida, like funding for the Everglades and citrus disease research, and prioritizes public health, protects the environment, supports our veterans and military families, strengthens food security, and invests in infrastructure.” The bill package consists of four FY 2021 appropriations bills: State-Foreign Operations (SFOPS), Agriculture-Rural Development-FDA, Interior-Environment, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs. Rep. Frankel, who serves on the SFOPS subcommittee, championed funding for global women’s health and empowerment and support for the US-Israel relationship included in the final bill. If the Senate passes its own bill, members will reconcile the differences to then send the result to the President’s desk for a signature. ### |
