Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) announced the Department of Education is awarding Palm Beach State College (PBSC) $556,613 in grants to support students. “All students in South Florida deserve access to high quality education regardless of background,” said Rep. Frankel. “These grants will help students overcome hurdles so they have every opportunity to succeed.” Student Support Services Program (SSS) grants, as part of the Federal TRIO Programs, are used to help low-income, first-generation, or disabled college students to increase students’ retention and graduation rates, facilitate their transfer from two-year to four-year colleges, and foster an institutional climate supportive of the success of low-income and first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities. PBSC is expected to receive this amount in grants every year for five years. ### |
