Today, Representatives Lois Frankel (FL-21), Ted Deutch (FL-22), Alcee Hastings (FL-20), Debbie Wasserman Schultz (FL-23), Kathy Castor (FL-14), Al Lawson (FL-05), Darren Soto (FL-09), Charlie Crist (FL-13), Val Demings (FL-10), Frederica Wilson (FL-24), and Stephanie Murphy (FL-07) sent a letter to Governor Ron DeSantis urging the state to ensure all K-12 school and child care workers can access the COVID-19 vaccine at all vaccination sites, not just federal locations. Currently, state vaccine distribution only includes K-12 school workers ages 50 and older, while federal guidelines encourage vaccination of all school and daycare workers. The letter states in full, “We write to urge you to align state points of vaccine distribution with federal guidelines by including child care workers and teachers of any age in the current state distribution. Our educators and day care staff are confused by the conflicting guidelines between state and federal distribution sites. As essential workers, they should have access to vaccines at all sites.”
