Democratic Women’s Caucus Names Michelle Moreno-Silva First Communications Director

Today, Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs Jackie Speier (CA-14), Lois Frankel (FL-21), and Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), and Vice Chairs Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) announced Michelle Moreno-Silva as the first DWC Communications Director.

“We are thrilled to welcome Michelle to the DWC. As an experienced communicator she will play a key role in shaping and executing the Caucus’ message,” said the members. “Michelle’s commitment to ensuring that all women in the United States have access to social, racial, and economic justice will be essential in advancing the priorities of hard-working women and their families in Congress during the coronavirus pandemic and beyond.”

Moreno-Silva most recently served as a key member of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s communications team, where she specialized in Hispanic media and championed equal pay for equal work, family reunification, and health equity. She is originally from Rhode Island and got her start on Capitol Hill in the legislative office of Senator Jack Reed, advancing economic development priorities. Moreno-Silva is an alumna of the College of the Holy Cross and completed her graduate degree at Georgetown University.

The Democratic Women’s Caucus is comprised of all 89 Democratic Women currently serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
