Rep. Lois Frankel Introduces Bill to Honor Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Sandra Day O'Connor

Washington, D.C.  – Today, Rep. Lois Frankel (FL-21) introduced a bipartisan, bicameral bill to obtain and permanently install statues honoring Supreme Court Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O’Connor in the U.S. Capitol or on the U.S. Capitol Grounds.

“Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O’Connor broke rock-hard barriers becoming the first women to sit on the Supreme Court and proved that women belong anywhere decisions are being made,” said Rep. Frankel. “Celebrating their careers with statues in their honor will inspire millions of visitors from around the world that pass through our Capitol.”

Rep. Frankel was joined by fellow Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Co-Chairs Congresswomen Jackie Speier (CA-14) and Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), Vice Chairs Congresswomen Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Rep. Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), as well as the Bipartisan Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues (BWC) Co-Chairs Congresswomen Madeleine Dean (D-PA-04) and Jenniffer González-Colón (R-PR), and Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08) in introducing this bill. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) ), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Krysten Sinema (D-AZ) introduced a companion bill in the Senate today.
