Rep. Frankel Urges DeSantis to Aid Hungry Children

West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement urging Governor DeSantis to apply for food assistance for poor children fully paid for by the federal government at no cost to the state. Florida is the only state refusing to extend this program known as Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT). The P-EBT program has been critical for helping food-insecure Floridians feed their children for the past year.

“There has been so much suffering during the COVID-19 pandemic. We have hungry children in Florida, including thousands in Palm Beach County, yet inexplicably Governor DeSantis has blocked our neediest families from getting food aid from the federal government,” said Rep. Frankel. “The governor should stop playing politics with children’s lives and apply for the funds immediately.”

Rep. Frankel joined the rest of the Florida Democratic delegation to write a letter to Governor DeSantis demanding he take action to get this funding.
