Washington,
October 13, 2021
West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement after voting to raise the debt limit. “Addressing the debt limit is not about future spending, it’s about meeting obligations that we already made to everyday Americans, like Social Security payments, veterans’ benefits, and COVID-19 economic relief,” said Rep. Lois Frankel. “Today, we took a stand to protect the full faith and credit of the United States. Now we need to turn our attention to passing the Build Back Better agenda and delivering the assistance working families need to thrive.” The bill raises the debt limit by $480 billion, which the Treasury Department estimates will keep the country under the debt limit until at least December 3rd. It passed the House by a vote of 219-206, and now goes to the President for his signature. ### |
