Washington, DC – Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement in response to the steps taken by the Florida State Legislature to advance Governor DeSantis’ dangerous proposals to limit the use of masks and vaccines during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“By ignoring CDC guidance from public health experts and reputable scientists, Governor DeSantis is putting politics over the health and safety of Floridians,” said Rep. Frankel.

Earlier this month, Rep. Frankel was joined by colleagues representing Florida, Texas, Georgia, and Arizona to introduce the LOCAL HEALTH Act, to give local governments, agencies, and businesses the freedom to follow CDC guidance—including requiring vaccines or mask mandates—in order to keep workers, students, and the broader community healthy and safe, and combat these dangerous political tactics by Governors like DeSantis.
