Rep. Frankel Announces Nearly $1.4 million to Delray Beach for Hurricane Irma Expenses

Washington, DC – Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21) announced that Delray Beach will receive $1,395,121 from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for protective measures in response to Hurricane Irma. The money will reimburse the city for costs relating to emergency sewage pumping, sandbagging at police stations, safety inspections, supplies and commodities to citizens, and the purchase of generators to supply temporary power to multiple areas citywide.

“Four years ago, Hurricane Irma brought flood waters, strong winds, and deadly destruction to our state, and cities like Delray Beach spent millions of dollars to keep their communities safe and recover from the storm,” said Rep. Frankel. “Thankfully, Congress has been able to provide billions in relief to areas like ours, and this new round of funding will help Delray Beach continue to heal and prepare for future hurricane seasons.”
