Rep. Frankel Statement on the Last Round of Monthly Child Tax Credit Payments Hitting Bank Accounts

December 15, 2021
West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement as the last disbursement of 2021 Child Tax Credit (CTC) payments hit bank accounts. “I’ve heard from families all across Palm Beach County who tell me how these Child Tax Credit payments allowed them to put food on the table for their children,” said Rep. Frankel. “No parent should be working two jobs and still struggling to keep a roof over their family’s heads. That’s why the expanded Child Tax Credit—which has lifted more than 5 million children out of poverty and delivered over $188 million in assistance to more than 80,000 families in our community—is so critical. It’s time for the Senate to pass the Build Back Better Act so we can continue providing these monthly tax credits and give families the help they need in the new year.” Under President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, Congress increased Child Tax Credit payments up to $3,600 per year per child under 6, and $3,000 per year per child ages 6-17 and provided monthly installments. The Build Back Better Act would extend this increase and the monthly payments through the end of 2022. The bill is currently awaiting action in the Senate. ### |
