Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) released the following statement in response to Governor Ron DeSantis’ press conference in West Palm Beach this morning.

“Folks should know that full vaccination and boosters are the best way to prevent severe illness and hospitalization from COVID-19, and that the overwhelming majority of severe COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations are in non-vaccinated people,” said Rep. Frankel. “While some treatments may help reduce symptoms in high-risk individuals, most of the current treatments are not effective against the Omicron variant, which is the prevalent strain in Florida and our nation. Folks should also be reminded that non-symptomatic persons can be infectious and endanger others. Testing is a useful tool and should be done according to CDC guidelines.”
