Rep. Frankel Celebrates President Biden Signing Her Bill Honoring Justices O’Connor, Ginsburg

Washington, DC – Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-21), Co-Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC), issued the following statement after her bipartisan, bicameral bill to honor Supreme Court Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg with statues in the U.S. Capitol was signed into law by President Joe Biden.

“Justices Sandra Day O’Connor and Ruth Bader Ginsburg overcame undeniable gender discrimination to break the highest ceiling in our judiciary by serving on the United States Supreme Court,” said Rep. Frankel. “I’m very happy that President Biden signed our bill into law today to honor these two trailblazers with statues on the Capitol Grounds, which will inspire millions of visitors that pass through the Capitol each year from around the country and across the globe.”

The Senate companion bill was championed by Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Susan Collins (R-ME), and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ). Rep. Frankel co-sponsored the House bill with other DWC Co-Chairs, Jackie Speier (CA-14) and Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), DWC Vice Chairs Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Sylvia Garcia (TX-29) and Bipartisan Women’s Caucus Co-Chairs Congresswomen Madeleine Dean (D-PA) and Jenniffer González-Colón (R-PR).
