Washington, DC – Representative Lois Frankel (FL-22) is joining like-minded colleagues in calling on Speaker Mike Johnson to bring the Senate-passed supplemental foreign aid package to the floor for an immediate vote on Monday, which includes $14.1 billion for Israel to fund its defense efforts. Over the weekend, the Iranian regime staged an unprecedented direct attack on Israel, launching hundreds of drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles at our ally. “The U.S.-Israel relationship is ironclad. As President Biden has said, the United States will stand with Israel and support their defense against Iranian attacks,” said Rep. Frankel. “Iran’s attacks underscore the urgent need to pass vital supplemental security assistance to Israel immediately. I join my colleagues in urging Speaker Johnson to bring the Senate’s package to the floor on Monday.” The Senate-passed package originally requested by President Biden received 70 votes from both sides of the aisle. In addition to aid to Israel, it includes $60 billion to support Ukraine in its defense against Putin’s invasion, $9.2 billion in humanitarian assistance, and $4.8 billion to support Taiwan and other allies. The package can be sent to President Biden’s desk Monday night if it passes the House.
