Washington, DC – Today, Reps. Lois Frankel (D-FL-22) and Jen Kiggans (R-VA-02), Co-Chairs of the Bipartisan Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) Caucus, reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the WPS agenda ahead of International Women’s Day. “Ahead of International Women’s Day, we recognize the essential role women play in preventing and resolving conflict. When women are meaningfully involved in conflict prevention, resolution, and post-conflict reconstruction, peace is more sustainable, inclusive, and effective,” said the Members. “As co-chairs of the bipartisan WPS Caucus, we remain committed to ensuring the full implementation of the Women, Peace, and Security Act of 2017.” The WPS Act, passed with bipartisan support and signed into law in 2017, affirms the critical role of women in peace and security efforts and requires U.S. agencies to integrate the WPS agenda into foreign policy and national security. The WPS Caucus, established in the 116th Congress, continues to promote awareness and Congressional oversight to ensure this mandate is carried out effectively.
