Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22), member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s call to ban all Muslims from entering the United States.

“Donald Trump’s call to bar Muslims from entering the United States is dangerous and inflammatory.  His remarks reinforce the narrative that pits the United States against Muslims and fuels terrorist recruitment efforts. Trump’s message promotes scapegoating and stereotyping that alienates our friends and bolsters our adversaries. History has taught us the dangers of singling out the ‘other’ for unequal treatment. Trump’s cruel rhetoric defies American principles of equal protection and nondiscrimination and, if gone unchecked, threatens to trample our most cherished values.”
