Democratic Women’s Working Group Statement on Trump Mocking Dr. Ford

WASHINGTON, DC – October 3, 2018 – Today, the leadership of the Democratic Women’s Working Group, Congresswomen Lois Frankel (FL-21), Brenda Lawrence (MI-14), and Jackie Speier (CA-14), released the following statement in response to President mocking Dr. Christine Blasey Ford at a campaign rally.

“Last night, the President of the United States embarrassed our nation by unleashing a vile and vicious attack on Dr. Christine Blasey Ford for bravely telling her story of sexual assault by Judge Kavanaugh. President Trump should be taking all necessary steps to make sure there is an impartial investigation of all pertinent allegations and individuals, as well as the multiple incidents of perjury committed by Judge Kavanaugh while testifying under oath before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Instead, the President – just four days after declaring Dr. Blasey Ford ‘a very credible witness’ – sent a horrible message to survivors of sexual assault and misconduct that they should suffer in silence because if they do speak out they are guaranteed to face disbelief, mockery, and character assassination.”
