Frankel Bill to Empower Women Worldwide is Signed into Law

WEST PALM BEACH, FL – Today, the Women’s Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment (WEEE) Act was signed into law. This bipartisan legislation, authored in the House by Rep. Lois Frankel (D-FL) and former Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), will help break down gender-related barriers to economic growth and supports women-led enterprises in developing countries.

“When women and girls are educated, free from violence, and have access to tools to support their families, their communities are safer, stronger, and more peaceful,” said Frankel. “There’s an undeniable link between women’s economic success and global prosperity, and the WEEE Act gives more women and girls the chance to thrive.”

More than one billion women are excluded from the formal financial system, which stunts economic growth. Research shows that advancing women’s equality could add as much as $28 trillion to global GDP by 2025. For more information about the WEEE Act, click here.
