Democratic Women’s Caucus Leadership Supports Congressional Letter Urging SBA, Treasury to Stop Attacks on Planned Parenthood

Today, Co-Chairs of the Democratic Women’s Caucus (DWC) Representatives Lois Frankel (FL-21), Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14), Jackie Speier (CA-14), and Vice Chairs Representatives Veronica Escobar (TX-16) and Deb Haaland (NM-1) released the following statement in support of a congressional letter to the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Department of the Treasury urging them to refrain from targeting Planned Parenthood’s receipt of  SBA’s Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans.

“With more than 100,000 U.S. deaths, it is unconscionable that the Small Business Administration and Senate Republicans are trying to distract from the Trump administration’s disastrous pandemic response by attacking Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides essential health care, including reproductive health care. Such an unfounded, politically motivated attack is unacceptable and will do nothing but prevent Americans from receiving care during a worldwide health crisis.”
