West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Representative Lois Frankel (FL-22) released the following statement after Florida’s Republican-controlled Legislature passed a bill allowing individuals to carry concealed, loaded weapons without a permit, background check, or any training.

“Guns are the number one killer of children in America,” said Rep. Frankel. “In a state where the devastating mass shooting at Parkland still weighs heavily on our hearts, it’s appalling to me that Florida Republicans want to put more guns in the hands of those who could harm themselves or others.”

Recent studies have found that assaults with firearms increased in states with relaxed concealed carry laws.

The bill now goes to Governor DeSantis, who is expected to sign it into law.
