West Palm Beach, FL – Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-22) released the following statement after Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naama Levy, and Liri Albag were released from Hamas captivity after being held hostage for more than 15 months. “I celebrate the release of Karina, Daniella, Naama, and Liri, four young Israeli women soldiers, who have endured months of captivity, and extend my heartfelt wishes for their recovery and healing as they reunite with their families and communities. This moment brings hope and reminds us of the enduring human spirit, even in the face of immense hardship,” said Rep. Frankel. “The Israel-Hamas hostage release and ceasefire agreement which led to their release did not come about overnight. It is the culmination of sustained diplomatic efforts and the steadfast, bipartisan commitment of the United States to Israel’s security and strategic interests. Over the years, this unwavering support has been instrumental in weakening the capabilities of Hamas and its backers, including Iran and Hezbollah. Through a combination of tireless diplomatic pressure, military deterrence, and international coordination, conditions were created to make this agreement possible. We owe deep gratitude to both the Biden and Trump Administrations for their respective contributions to this landmark agreement and the recent release of hostages. The vital role of the U.S. Congress in maintaining bipartisan support for Israel’s security cannot be overstated. This enduring partnership underscores the shared commitment of the United States and Israel to advancing peace and security in the region. While the agreement and freedom of hostages mark significant progress, much work remains to be done. The release of all hostages and the pursuit of lasting peace in the region must remain an urgent priority. As we move forward, it is imperative that the United States remain unwavering in its commitment to a safe and secure Israel.” This marks the second round of the release of Hamas’ hostages, as per the recent ceasefire agreement put in place last week. Seven of the 33 hostages set to be released in the first phase of the agreement have now been freed from captivity. The second and third phases of the agreement have complex requirements including that every hostage, including the remains of hostages who are now deceased, to eventually be released.
