Rep. Frankel Statement on DeVos Decision to Rescind Title IX Guidance Protecting Victims of Sexual Assault

WEST PALM BEACH – Today, Congresswoman Lois Frankel (FL-21) issued the following statement after the Department of Education formally rescinded President Obama’s guidance regarding Title IX’s protections against sexual violence on college campuses:

“The Trump administration took action today that sends a message that could return us to the days when sexual violence was swept under the rug at our schools and college campuses. With that said, all parties should take notice that Title IX remains the law of the land. It offers protections for victims of sexual assault that should be enforced vigorously despite the misguided decision by the Secretary of Education rescinding the Obama guidance. Institutions of learning should be places for students to chase dreams, not run from sexual predators.”
