Frankel to Host Workshop to Help Veterans Facing Disability Claims Backlog

VA Claims Specialists Will Be on Hand to Assist Veterans with Claims Pending Year or Longer

Congresswoman Lois Frankel will host a workshop on September 25th at FAU to help veterans living in Florida’s 22nd congressional district who have disability claims that have been pending for a year or longer.

VA claims specialists will be on hand to assist Frankel’s constituents with their pending veterans disability benefit claims.

“There is a backlog which is absolutely unacceptable,” Frankel said recently on a telephone town hall.

Nationally there are more than 744,000 compensation and pension disability benefits claims pending with over 446,000 backlogged claims, according to the VA. In the St. Petersburg, Florida regional office, there are more than 49,000 claims pending. In the Florida regional office, claims are pending on average for more than 202 days and take an average of 372 days to complete.

Supporting our veterans is one of Frankel’s top priorities. Frankel is the proud mother of an Iraq and Afghanistan Marine veteran and there are over 54,000 civilian veterans in Florida’s 22nd congressional district, according to the US Census.

***Veterans in FL-22 who would like to attend the workshop should call Frankel’s office to RSVP at 561-998-9045 or 866-264-0957 (toll free)
