Help for Displaced Puerto Ricans

WEST PALM BEACH, FL Yesterday, the Department of Labor announced that they are awarding a $13,020,000 grant to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to fund re-employment services and temporary disaster relief employment for eligible individuals. Residents of Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands who were forced to evacuate due to widespread damage caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria will be able to apply. The grant will create temporary jobs for cleanup and recovery efforts, and provide job counseling, placement services, and training.

“Florida welcomed thousands of our fellow Americans who were forced to evacuate their homes after two devastating hurricanes,” said Rep. Lois Frankel (FL-21). “This grant will put people back to work, help families put food on the table and regain normalcy in their lives.”
